WiPower was founded to enhance and commercialize wireless charging platforms and has filed nine US patents to protect its revolutionary core technology. WiPower has spent the last four years building on innovations that originated at the University of Florida.  WiPower’s headquarters are located in Altamonte Springs, FL with research also being conducted in Gainesville, FL and Cambridge, MA.

Leadership Team

Zhen Ning Low, Power Electronics & System Design Lead: Zhen Ning is an inventor of co-inventor of all nine US patent pending WiPower technologies. He spent several years working in Singapore’s most prestigious national lab: Singapore’s Agency for Science, Technology and research where contributed to the development of a variety of technologies related to GPS systems, ultra-wide band communications and RF sensor networks. He left his work in the Ghz frequency range and began work on wireless power to stay at the forefront of new technology development. Prior to WiPower he spent two an half years in the Singapore Army. He completed his PhD course work at the University of Florida with a perfect GPA. He graduated from Nanyang Technical University with his Electrical Engineering degree with highest honors and in the top 3% of his class of 900.

Joaquin Casanova, Electromagnetics & System Modeling Lead: Joaquin is an inventor of numerous proprietary and patent-pending technologies. He has a strong personal interest in electromagnetic structures, thermal control, multiphysics simulations, and numerical optimization. Prior to joining WiPower he developed 3D fractal, heat-sink antennas for high-power radar applications for the United States Air Force. In other work, he utilized OpenMP and UF’s High Performance Computing Center center to calibrate land surface model parameters with Latin Hypercube Sampling of the parameter space and Pareto ranking. He completed all PhD course work at the University of Florida with a perfect GPA. He earned his BSBE (eligible for highest honors), MEBE, and MSEE from the University of Florida.

Jason Taylor, Lead – Product Development Lead: Jason joined WiPower to contribute to the electro-mechanical aspects of wireless power products. Prior to joining WiPower, his work focused on robotics and the development of automation equipment for use in manufacturing facilities. He has won a variety of competitions for his work in robotics including a first place in the University of Florida’s annual senior design competition.

Henoch Senbetta, Marketing Lead: Henoch leads product and corporate marketing for WiPower. Henoch spent two years with Deloitte Consulting’s Strategy & Operations practice where he advised executive teams on key issues at companies around the globe. He graduated from the University of Florida with a B.S in Industrial Engineering, highest honors, and a B.S in Business Administration, also with highest honors.

Ashish Gupta, Business Development Lead: Ashish, along with Ryan, contributed to the development of early wireless power systems. His area of study included the power electronic and electromagnetic aspects of the design. Previously, he spent two years working as an electrical engineer for Anheuser Busch and was a co-founder of an IT outsourcing firm. He graduated in the top 5% of his class with a BSEE (eligible for highest honors) from the University of Florida.

Ryan Tseng: Ryan Tseng has spent the last four years spearheading the development of wireless power technology and is the founder and CEO of WiPower Inc. Prior to WiPower, Ryan also spent three and half years in and around the energy infrastructure industry. His work was related to electrical generation, transmission, distribution, and storage as well as gas transmission (including terminals), distribution, and compression. Most recently he was an Associate at McKinsey & Company where he worked with the senior management team of a $5B construction company to reduce SG&A, improve operations, and redefine the strategy of a $500M business unit. While pursuing his MBA at the Sloan School of Management he won numerous business plan competitions and completed his core course work with a perfect GPA. He graduated second in his class with a BSEE, highest honors, from the University of Florida. While there, he never lost an engineering design competition.

Business Advisory Board

Dr. Rahul Razdan: Rahul is an executive advisor and currently the head of business development. Rahul has over 20 years executive management experience with a variety of roles across sales, R&D, and marketing. He worked at Cadence Design systems from 1997-2008 where he served as Corporate VP and Managing Director. While there, he oversaw $100M/yr. in bi-lateral business, managed a $250M/yr. business unit, and worked directly with the CEO on M&A and deep strategic partnerships. Prior to that, he worked at DEC as part of the Alpha CPU design team. He has authored 12 referenced technical papers with 2 winning best paper awards and is the inventor or co-inventor of 24 issued patents. He earned his PhD in computer science from Harvard University. Before that he earned his MS in computer engineering and BS in electrical engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University.

Barrett Comiskey: Barrett Comiskey has experience in building new businesses, US/Asia partnerships, and international technology transfer. In 1997 he co-founded E Ink (www.eink.com) and serves as an Executive Advisor to the company. After pioneering the original research at the MIT Media Lab, he led the development and transfer to manufacturing of E Ink’s electronic materials. He then moved to the business side and structured manufacturing alliances with multi-billion dollar electronics companies throughout Asia. He is sole or co-inventor on 40 US Patents, has been profiled in the Wall Street Journal, Wired, and Fortune, and was selected by the World Economic Forum as a Technology Pioneer for his work on E Ink. E Ink technology has been featured in hundreds of media reports worldwide and has won dozens of awards such as Industry Week’s “Technology of the Year” and “Display Component of the Year” by SID, the Electronic Display industry association. Barrett holds a BS from MIT in Mathematics with a minor in Mechanical Engineering, and an MBA from Stanford where he studied under Hau Lee and Jin Whang, two of the thought leaders in Supply Chain Management.  http://www.nicobargroup.com/management.html
